Doekie Dash started the way many good family ideas do — with a baby on the way
and a household trying to keep up.
When Bronwen was six months pregnant with their second child, her husband Niel had what he believed was a brilliant idea. Like many great ideas, it took a little while to become reality — about three years, in fact. The real turning point came at a proper South African braai, where Niel shared the concept with his friend Glenn. Glenn, clearly not one to shy away from a challenge, responded, “Let’s make a business out of it.” And just like that, Doekie Dash was born.
Of course, no family venture is complete without the wisdom of those who have seen it all before. Glenn’s mom, Ann, and Niel’s mom, Marietta, were always ready with advice, guidance, and the kind of practical insight that only comes with experience. Together with Bronwen — who had very real, hands-on motivation — they helped shape the idea into something that genuinely works for everyday families.
After four months of designing, testing, refining, and perfecting, Doekie Dash became a reality: the first one-handed baby changing console, created to make life a little easier for parents.
Doekie Dash is proudly built in Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape, using suppliers from across South Africa. It’s a local product, created by a family, for families.
Because when it comes to nappy changes, every parent quickly learns one important truth: one free hand can make all the difference.
